Book Description
Usually every four years, with the USA Election time getting close, phrases like “Electoral college” are heard a lot and sometimes the question arises why and how is it possible for someone to be elected as the president of this country (USA) even though that person has less votes?
The United States of America is a federation and its election’s system also follows a really different pattern. This book focuses on the selection process in the USA and describes the form of establishment and the mechanism of this pattern in detail.
“Because of the governing federal system on the USA, with considering the fact that the people and the states should be the dual pillars of the election, the electoral college system has been established. In this case that despite its own specific American complexity, it is at least in a way closer to a semi-direct presidential election system, there are two stages: In the first stage the American people go to the voting ballots in November every 4 years and vote for 537 electors; at the second stage in December of that same year, the electors choose the president of the USA in their own way.”
“The US Constitution, with more than 200 years of history, is the oldest law based on the democracy basics in the world. The reason of the antiquity goes back to the non-changeable process of the federal constitution of the year 1787. However, in many democratic countries, the constitutions are constantly being revised, amended and also changed in a fundamentally way.”
